Ivan Noble, the BBC journalist who began a 'tumour diary' on the BBC website in August 2002, when he was diagnosed with cancer has died in a London hospice aged 37.
I read his journal throughout most of his illness, though for inexplicable reasons not for the last few weeks. On Sunday he made his last post, written beforehand late in 2004 knowing he would become unable to carry on writing at some point. On Monday he sadly died.
His ability to conquer his fear and to look his life in the eye was an inspiration and strength to many thousands of people. May his family take comfort at least from that and may he rest in peace.
