A personal triumph

Andrew Murray
I was heartened this morning to read this story.
Andrew Murray, a 17 year old Scot who survived the Dunblane massacre of 1996, yesterday won the US open tennis junior title.
A true case of courage triumphing over adversity. Long may he continue to achieve his dreams.
"My long-term aim is to make the world's top 10"
Andrew Murray.

That's indeed heartening! Actually the Dunblane massacre quite often goes through my thoughts. People have almost forgotten about it so it seems.
I agree, it does seem so but perhaps on the scale of more recent events it doesnt seem a tragedy of such enormity, tho of course for those affected it will always be. I think also that people move on, hopefully they don't forget but life necessitates that we can't mourn with such intensity forever. If those involved can move forward then we all should.
I agree, although I wonder about the parents of those poor children. I don't suppose they'll "move on" as easily.
Dale, I imagine some will have and some won't have and all the varying degrees inbetween. We all vary in our coping mechanisms in whatever circumstances. I hope for their own sakes that the parents of these poor children have at least learnt to live with their profound sadness and anger, I doubt they will ever stop grieving. Those of us who have never experienced such trauma can never begin to imagine the emotions they feel. I wonder when individuals commit such atrocities if they ever consider the lives blighted not just of their immediate victims but of the wider circle. By nature I try to find reasons (not excuses) for these peoples actions but in some I find it impossible.
